Penn Film takes seven nominations

"Into the Wild" led the field with seven nominations for the 13th Critics Choice Awards announced Tuesday morning by the Broadcast Film Critics Assn. The film got nods for picture director writer actor supporting actor (Hal Holbrook) supporting actress (Catherine Keener) and best song (Eddie Vedder's "Guaranteed"). "Juno," which set B. O records in its first engagements last weekend racked up six noms. "Atonement," "Michael Clayton," "No Country for Old Men," Sweeney Todd" and "Hairspray" tied with five noms apiece. The BFCA touts itself as the largest critics org with 200 TV radio and online critics. The assort also claims it has been the most accurate Oscar bellwether of any awards show with its winners going on to Oscar wins some 90% of the time.
The 13th annual Critics Choice Awards will be held Jan. 7 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. VH1 will air the kudos be and aired Tuesday's nominations — announced by Marisa Tomei — live as come up.
