2001 Ford Explorer Sport165K MilesAuto TransmissionRed Brake Light will ocassionally flash on while I'm driving. What in the world does this mean?Thank you so much for your time!!!
Means time to check or replace the pads as the pads wear the caliper piston moves out of the bore this then draws fluid out of the Master to keep the caliper full when enough fluid is displaced the red light comes on. The other possibilty is you have a leak... How is the pedal?
The pedal seems fine. I don't have to push too far down in order to stop. I did notice this morning when I turned the car on the light just stayed on this time until I started braking then went off. Then when I accelerated it would come on and off. Ughhh!!! With all the miles on this car and now this brake problem I'm considering a new car. I know you can't advise on what to do but now the Check Engine light is on.. I'm just too frustrated!! Before I shell out over 1k in repairs or more wouldn't it be wise just to get a new car if feasible? You are really blessing me with your time in answering my questions. Chat soon. I'll make a donation tomorrow.
That really depends on who does the work if you do it pads run from about 20.00-50.00. If a shop does it they will most likly want to replace rotors say 200.00-300.00 per axle maybe 600.00 total.
