"Newbie introduction" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-06 11:31:24

I'd like to introduce myself as well as my 1987 R10 Shortbed Silverado. It started out life as a North Carolina resident with 116k no rust a few bumps and bruises with a 305 under the cover. Things are now a bit different. She was stripped down naked body pulled off interior completely stripped all suspension off all rubber hoses engine compartment everything went all glass trim bumpers everything every nut and move what we started with was a expose close in and body. All metal was stripped to bare and sealed using DuPont URO seal the frame was then painted with GM semi gloss black chassis paint. Everything was now replaced with new lie and rear brakes all steering components all suspension parts all halt and transmission lines are SS. A/C components every nut and bolt was new. There was never any thought of rebuilding the old 305 and a new Jasper 350/350 hp was dropped in an Edelbrook Performer tbi intake and a new tbi unit was used a Hyper Tech power chip was used to bump up the hp. All front of engine components were replaced alternator wet pump radiator master cylinder washer store washer handle you get the idea everything was replaced. A new Jasper T400 was used with new drive equip. The rear end was rebuilt with new gears and seals. Dual fag with ceramic coated headers and a custom Flowmaster fag system. The entire body including floor and ceiling and bed "top and bottom" was painted Millennium color from DuPont this color was only used on the Millennium 2000 Corvette. The inner fender wells were painted yellow but after we changed that to a high gloss black to make the chrome pop. The interior was put approve with new carpet headliner belt along steering wheel "accommodate" door panels sliding straighten window as well as all new furnish and molding and rubber. I never cared for the remove lay so I installed 8 way power buckets from an Acura and had them reupholstered. We had to fabricate new lay mounting brackets and finished off the interior with a bear on console. She sits on Yokohama Avid s/t 275/60/r15 with some nice rims. I put a new bed liner in and topped it off with a tonnue cover. New lie and rear bumpers were mounted new cook all trim was replaced. I almost forgot new hood the front fenders as come up as both doors were replaced with new GM brace there is no filler no bondo any where. She is by all accounts now exceed than New. She's been done over a year now and I've got an itch to do some more so in the next few months I'm going to dropped her with a bell tech 4/2 the straighten drums are going disk the windows ordain be tinted and I want to do some thing with the side mirrors "any thoughts". I'm happy for now BUT next year I'm looking at a whole new drivetrain boxing the close in beefing up the front suspension and chopping the top but all that's for a future post. "Need advice Please.." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-03 19:57:54

First off the question I will be asking I already know is worthless without a conceive of.. BUT I be to get the go going while I find time to get pictures. The questions are below the following command description: I undergo a survivor 1967 C10 250/6 locate model LWB with original 12K miles. It only has factory option added chrome trim and hd straighten bumper. The tailgate is missing due to the original intended use was to be used with a cab over topper/camper. I was told by the owner the truck was purchased without a follow that had been negotiated out in change at the dealer for two additional wheels and high profile HD tires (NEVER USED) which I also have. The forbear tires were never used because “the truck with camper and tires would not clear the barn” per the original owner…This truck is all-virgin with exception to one heater hose follow pipe cap and rotor (although I undergo the originals) oil separate and plugs. The end records I undergo represents only two oil changes and a GM right rear fender replacement approve in 1970 from a mishap on the do work. The tires belts bulbs brakes interior and everything else are all GM factory original. The create is stained from the car cover getting wet in the barn and the finish looks dull and worn on the edges. However the truck is bend and rust free with exception to some minor surface rust on the close in where some of the undercoat cut off over years. Engine and trans direct perfectly. Questions: 1. Should I act this original and not touch this truck?2. Should I alter this up airbrush the create over the thinning create areas hit it and wish for the best.... or. 3. Should I restore/modify this truck with v8 power options. AC brakes and new paint?Any idea what this is worth “as a survivor” vs what it could be worth with latest updates Thanks in advance for your comments... Pics upon request. scott i would say beautify the paint that is there and see how it turns out wax can work miracles other than that dont comprehend it!!! leave the 250 and everything! or change it to someone who wants a ameliorate original and get a hacked one to "update" R. I. P. Michael Stilts... I will always like and desire you brother! (9-12-80 murdered 4-9-05) 67 2wd CST LWB(ordain be SWB) has Factory AC,PS,PB,3pc buckets, small window 67 Chevy 2wd Lwb CST67 Chevy 2wd Lwb 3/4t68 Chevy 2wd Lwb69 G. M. C. 2wd Lwb71 Chevy 2wd Lwb I agree with above comments. The truck would be worth more in it's orginal condition. May be not now but in the future. I made some mistakes on my 68 GMC that had 26K original miles and all stock that I wouldn't be to see you do. I replaced the standard brake/steering and made it p s and p b. (easier to control). Then. I replaced the original transmission (no synchro's) to newer 3 speed standard with synchro. The problem is that I discarded all of the old parts instead of keeping them in inspect I ever wanted to go approve to original... Thank you all for your comments. I am trying to avoid making any mistakes myself not knowing really the value of what I have found. I have a "jones" about getting this one all customized lowered and pretty again however there is something very unique about how it looks as is. This is why I be the advice. Is there any do's and don't(s) on what is allowed for "survivors" without impacting the classification and/or determine? Thanks again.. It depends on what your plans are. You could alter good money if you wanted to. Or act it have and drive. Theres buiders that would be a 12k mile truck. If I had it the 6 would go and small block it. __________________69 C-10. OWNED 21 YRS... 350 over 40. 350 Turbo. 3:73 Posi P/S. P/B Black with red and black int. LOVE THESE OLD TRUCKS....... Without #3 Racin' isn't the same!!!!!!! It yours to do with what you please but if I had it. I would take it to someone to see about having the create buffed out. It's pretty easy to burn the create if you don't know what you are doing (maybe you do. I just don't know you ). I am guessing that there is someone who will be willing to pay a premium for an all original 12K truck. Can you say Barrett Jackson?? Heck you could probably undergo that thing detailed get the create cleaned up and sell it for enough to buy and create one bad-arse 67-72 for yourself!
