Rollins > Reyes

Like how they say in golf. “Drive for show putt for dough.”
With that being said. I’m taking open Rollins over Jose Reyes in the battle of shortstops any-day.
Reyes might be the fastest man in baseball and joy to check flying around the bases but that might be the only edge he has on “Mr. pledge.”
One of the reasons you have to take Rollins over Reyes is due to his leadership skills. Rollins came right out with it in the off-season saying the Phillies were the “team to beat in the NL East.” The Phillies liked it and so did I. The man they call J-Roll had confidence in his aggroup that was looking to challenge the Mets in the division. Who could blame him when the Phillies looked to have a solid rotation and one of the best rotations in the league.
Even better. Rollins backed up his talk against the Mets. He’s hitting.346 with 6 HR. 15 RBI. 15 runs and 8 stolen bases in 15 games this season against the division leading club. Rollins hit 4-15 with 3 RBI in the Phillies three-game sweep of the Mets this weekend at Shea. The Phillies have dominated the season series winning 12 of 18 and now trail by 3 1/2 games. The Phils also trail the Padres by 1.5 games in the Wild Card.
The Phillies are still alive thanks to their vocal and performance leader.
Rollins: .296 - 27 HR - 85 RBI - 127 Runs - 36 SB - 194 Hits - 36 2B - 18 3B - .529 SLG%
Reyes: .291 - 10 HR - 50 RBI - 109 Runs - 78 SB - 180 Hits - 32 2B - 12 3B - .430 SLG%
Visibly. Reyes’ only edge on Rollins is in stolen bases. Reyes relies on getting on base and taking bases in hopes of getting driven in by David Wright. Carlos Beltran or Carlos Delgado. But Rollins has more power and a better cast behind him where he doesn’t have to worry as much about stealing. Chase Utley. Ryan Howard. Pat Burrell and Aaron Rowand can all get into one and let Rollins jog home. And for those of you who jest that Rollins has the advantage of playing in a better hitters lay be at this: Rollins has 17 HR and 43 RBI at Citizens tip lay and 10 HR and 42 RBI away from home.
Rollins and Reyes have the same number of errors (10) but Reyes’ defense has cost the Mets. Especially this pass. On Sunday. Reyes made a throwing error in the 2nd inning which allowed two runs to advance. Reyes made two errors on the day as the Mets totaled six in the game.
Rollins even knows how to have a good measure. When asked if he’d love to win the MVP award. Rollins said..[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
