"Clinton and Obama Talk About Economy, Each Other" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-10 03:58:46

KNOXVILLE. Iowa – Underscoring the fierce competition to win the Iowa presidential caucuses in January. Senator intensified her critique of a leading Democratic rival. Barack Obama suggesting that he lacked her ability and experience to manage the economy. Mr. Obama who was also campaigning in Iowa pushed back swiftly and with humor saying he did not know “exactly what experiences she’s claiming” and pointing out that she herself had never held a job like say. Treasury Secretary. Both candidates seized on and elevated the economy as a major new sparring point today reflecting the mounting concerns among Americans not to mention Democratic primary voters about employment mortgage foreclosures and rising oil gas and energy bills as the winter approaches. Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama along with former Senator John Edwards are bunched closely together in public opinion polls of likely Iowa caucus-goers with each of the three searching for issues and a message to break ahead of the Democratic pack. Mrs. Clinton has outlined her major economic proposals in past speeches including ideas to create 5 million new jobs through energy research and aid Americans facing mortgage foreclosures. Her thrust today was that the American economy has been damaged with deficits tax cuts for wealthy Americans and other choices by the Bush administration and that the nation needed an experienced fiscal steward in its next president. Mrs. Clinton did not criticize Mr. Obama by name today (she rarely does) but aides said she was referring to him as she said – in an economic policy speech here – that the next president needs preparation to deal with “eight years of neglect and mismanagement.” “There is one job we can’t afford on-the-job training for – that’s the job of our next president,” Mrs. Clinton said. “That could be the costliest job training in history. Every day that’s spent learning the ropes is another day of rising costs mounting deficits and growing anxiety for our families. And they cannot afford to keep waiting.” “We need a president who understands the magnitude and complexity of the challenges we face – and has the strength and experience to address them from day one,” she continued speaking at a school here. Mrs. Clinton also made a glancing hit on the push by Mr. Obama. Mr. Edwards and others to undertake a major overhaul of Social Security which. Mrs. Clinton has asserted they would pursue by raising taxes at a trillion-dollar level. Mrs. Clinton has called for appointing a bipartisan commission to study the issue. “We don’t need more Republican scare tactics about a Social Security crisis and we don’t need a trillion dollar tax increase,” she said. Not far away in the town of Fort Dodge. Mr. Obama smiled when told of Mrs. Clinton’s jab about on-the-job training. “I am happy to compare my experiences to hers when it comes to the economy,” he said. “My understanding was that she wasn’t Treasury Secretary in the Clinton administration so I don’t know exactly what experiences she’s claiming.” He added: “I think she’s a capable person. She’s been a senator like I have. Rather than just assert experience if she has specific differences with me with respect to economic policy. I’m happy to have those debates. This sort of general notion of experience based on longevity in Washington. I don’t think is sufficient to make the case to the voters of Iowa or the American people.” By Mrs. Clinton’s standards it was a pretty tough hit against a Democratic rival and advisers said it was part of her campaign’s strategy to take on Mr. Obama in Iowa as she seeks to edge out him and Mr. Edwards. The hit was also noteworthy because most of her economic speeches have dwelled on her criticisms of President Bush rather than pay notice to her Democratic rivals. Messrs. Obama and Edwards have criticized Mrs. Clinton for pursuing a general election strategy instead of a primary strategy suggesting that she is taking victory for granted; in mixing it up with Mr. Obama at least. Mrs. Clinton is signaling in part that she does not believe she is entitled to anything. Mrs. Clinton also criticized the Republican presidential field though she did not single out leading candidates like Rudolph W. Giuliani or Mitt Romney who attack her by name on an almost daily basis. ‘What is truly amazing is that the Republican candidates for president are determined to continue these failed policies,” Mrs. Clinton said about the Bush administration’s agenda. “In fact we can describe their approach to the economy in four simple words: More of the same.” “In short they see eight years of Bush economics and say why not eight more? Well here’s my response to that: You’ve got until January 20. 2009 and not another day more,” she said referring to Inauguration Day. The substance of the Clinton speech was largely a summary of economic policy ideas that Mrs. Clinton has previously outlined. In terms of new proposals she called for doubling the amount of federal housing aid for counseling people who face foreclosures and mortgage crises and increasing emergency energy assistance to help an additional one million families help pay their bills. I am happy to compare my experiences with hers when it comes to the economy,” Obama said. “My understanding was that she wasn’t Treasury Secretary in the Clinton Administration.” “I think she’s a capable person. She’s been a senator like I have,” he added. “But rather than just assert experience if she has specific differences with me with respect to economic policy. I’m happy to have those debates. But this general notion of experience based on longevity in Washington I don’t think is sufficient What experience is she talking about? She claims to have all these experiences from HER HUSBAND’S tenure in the White House but cannot cite one specific successful policy that she worked on or one piece of legislation that she helped create while in the White House. The only thing we do know she worked on–Health Care–was a historic failure. This is the first instance I’ve ever seen someone so brazenly take credit for someone else’s work. Her husband and his cabinet apparently did nothing it was all her. It is also the first time the spouse of someone claims their partner’s experience as theirs. I suppose we should make Mrs. Rubin the next Treasury Secretary because I am sure her husband had “conversations” with her about economic policies over the years. But was is most amazing is that the main-stream media (the NY Times included) accepts this “experience” claim of hers as a fact. Where’s the beef? Oh yeah she locked it up and will not allow anyone to see it until after her two terms as president! Could it be there is no beef after all?! Attitude attitude and attitude are what apply to an aproach to the economy and Obama has it hands down. We all need to tighten the belts get this energy and oil dependence business under control find a way out of the multi faceted immigration quagmire which we all neglected too long support decent wages iron out the health care mess and above all get us out of this stupid war which is draining our resources and usurping any consideration for domestic progree across the board. Obama has the judgment and the approach with the most promise. Hillary is not as focused and most importantly her hard and inflexible attitude makes it unlikely that she could govern effectively even if the Republicans were unable to cut her to pieces as a flip flopper. Barack Obama put his finger right on it when he said that if he is the nominee the Reps will not be able to say he voted for the war. Politics is interesting and sometimes funny. Give them a maximum of 4-5 months from this month and one of these two fine candidates will simply throw in the towel. S/he together with the other candidtes will then start counting their mistakes and failures. Focus on issues that Americans care about rather than accusations and counter-acusations. At the end of the day. America is the sole loser. You would need to be blind deaf and dumb not to know that the current economic mess is entirely due to Clinton and her insane support for outsourcing guest workers and globalization. ANd please don’t answr back with the lame excuse that she thought NAFTA was a bad idea yesterday. Bill and Hillary Clinton made their personal fortune with a company that provides outsourcing services and guest workers especially H1-B and L-1 visa guest workers that have displace over 4 million U. S engineers scientists computer programmers database administrators and oher high tech workers in this country! Her irrespbsible action her persuit of short term economic profits led directly to the present mess. Thuis is why she was **BOOed** at the KOS convention earlier this year! She needs to answer for the millions of dollars in campaign cash that have been sent her by Chinese and Indian companies (and under investigation the governments too) the vast bulk of it laundered through minimum wage earning immigrants from those countries. She also needs to answer as to why she was called the “Senator From India” on a recent visit to that country. Hillary CLinton is the worst enemy working men and women have. She might just be the worst enemy this country has. Funny. I run a group called “Policy Wonks for Obama.” I began to read this thinking I could use it for discussion but I find it virtually off topic. Simply posting the candidates’ platforms on the issues in your website should not preclude daily coverage of same. Why don’t you keep an archive of barbs instead and blog on more substative issues? To be sure everyone watches the horse race but there is something behind it; otherwise you may as well have sports figures running for President. I am sick of stories that do nothing but talk about how the two trade barbs. Either of these people could end up as the nominee and you owe it to us to tell us what we would be voting for. This experience debate is so old that it puts one to sleep. You would think the reporters never actually bothered to listen to the speeches. It’s a shame to see Hillary doing this which is a disservice to Democrats who actually think. Instead of false charges why not a deep discussion with Obama where real policies are talked about with a fact-checker someone who would actually weigh in and make sure answers are credible. That is they’re both viable candidates. Why should we have to sift through sound bites attack and counter attacks? Why can’t we just have a calm discussion where real differences and perspectives are aired? No more “gotcha” politics but real dialogue? It’s a shame to see Hillary doing this which is a disservice to Democrats who actually think. Instead of false charges why not a deep discussion with Obama where real policies are talked about with a fact-checker someone who would actually weigh in and make sure answers are credible. That is they’re both viable candidates. Why should we have to sift through sound bites attack and counter attacks? Why can’t we just have a calm discussion where real differences and perspectives are aired? No more “gotcha” politics but real dialogue? I thought Senator Obama’s rebuttal was perfectly put–if we have policy differences. I’m happy to discuss them. If you would like to assert experience as the main factor that qualifies you over me with regard to the economy please cite specifically what aspects of your experience you are referring to. If we had simply continued with Clinton we would have had continuing mediocre economic performance with moderate gains by the super rich and so so income growth for the rest of us. I assume Mike Brooks is a died in the wool Bush supporter. If he can disucss the economic situation in the nation and blame it on the Clintons. Bill Clinton left office with a huge surplus and we now have a huge deficit. Only a true Repubican could turn that one into a plus. I am sure he also likes to say Clinton shouldn’t claim experience based on her husband being President and now he blames her for the Clinton Administration. These Hillary haters as so warped in their perspective that it is sad. I respect all the Democratic candidates and any one of them will do a better job for our nation than the Republican in office of the ones running. Hillary happens to understand better than most that a balanced budget will again bring some equanimity to the stock market and to our economy. The reason that Robert Rubin former Treasury Secretary endorsed her. Exactly what experience does Senator Clinton have? She is an efficient one term Senator who before that was a first lady whose sole attempt at policy making (the healthcare overhaul) dismally failed. The media seems to be as usual buying this easy narrative and are not looking at the real facts. Clinton’s “experience” is in fact quite limited. Hedge fund makes money through insider information which is against law in stock market. Hedge fund declares in order to make big profit the business activities need to be kept secretly. Being secrete can bring big gain but also big loss for the investors. Being secrete affects the world’s economy so huge. The gain for Hedge fund only helps a few millionaires but the loss for Hedge fund hurt all people on Earth. Bush’s de-regulation for hedge fund and sub-prime loan is a financial beast which is like the beast in the Revelation of New Testament. Yes. Hillary has had more experience in Washington than Obama experience that has indeed been unique. There are the 140 pardons thrown into the air like confetti when she and her fleet footed husband dashed out of Washington. One of the pardons was that granted to a person to whom one of Hillary’s brothers owed a bundle. Then there’s the attempt by her husband when he was President to hustle a real big bundle out of Prince Saud for his presidential library in Arkansas a state in which he had been suspended from the practice of law a state that didn’t want him back. We could go on for page after page after page. Like most Americans we’ve stopped listening to all of the candidates but particularly to Hillary who can look God directly in the eye while lying to Him (or Her as the surprising case may be). Whoever you are reading this comment take your dog for a walk. Inhale the cold air. Imagine that you are back in the country you once knew where parents stayed married kids had the patience to build erector sets and the thought of America actually made one quietly proud. The thought of the Clintons in that America just won’t fit and its that moral incongruity about them that they will bring to you once again should you elect her. Not much here. All trash talk; no substance. “You’re an idiot.” “No you are the idiot.” Kidspeak is what it is. Hillary. Barack. Rudy. Mitt speak vacuous chewing gum strength blather. Never do they say anything. Their minds are empty as the day they were born–all a natural result of being on the campaign trail hitting up people for money. I don’t know what any of them really stands for. That’s the point isn’t it though they stand for nothing ever eager to sniff the wind and see which way it’s going. We are reduced in this country to a clown show–a mighty battle between Neanderthal wine-drinking montebanks and oleaginous buffoons of the first order. Comes next November vote for somebody–bound to be an improvement over the empty headed cowboy and the Darth Vardarish veep now running/ruining the country. Washington ‘experience’ is not what our country needs right now! That will only bring us more gridlock. Enron’s special interest spending and continued weakening of the dollar. We need a new person with fresh ideas who will build coalitions and bring in new people to work on our economic challenges. With Hillary we will get more ‘Clinton cronies’ and people she ‘owes.’ It’s funny too me what counts as an “economic policy proposal” for these two–namely more handouts. More money for foreclosure counseling and increased emergency energy assistance…really? Does anyone actually believe that’s going to make a difference? No candidate has put forward serious policy proposals for dealing with the deep structural reforms that we will have to go through to get our economy back on track. The best answer you can hope to get from either camp is “convene a bipartisan study group for afterschool meetings.” Come on. This group of hacks has no respect for voters. Edwards has at least rejected the status quo by saying no to the latest NAFTA expansion into Peru which both Obama and Clinton supported. (Both also supported a trade pact with a dictatorship in 2005 that tops State Department lists as a serial human rights abuser and center for human trafficking.) Even Edwards though hasn’t said much about what he propose replacing it with. I’d love to support Obama as a viable alternative to Hillary. But anyone who thinks he’s going to turn the page on corporate gifts and lobbying needs to turn a few pages of his campaign finance reports. And on trade and economic policy and on his weak-kneed retreat from a serious Social Security debate the guy’s anything but courageous experienced or not. All this experience that Hillary arguest to have has made her soo political that it is hard for this woman to have a definite answers about important issues. She keeps going back and forth. Yes this is definitely the consequence of having a lot of experience. She knows that there is too much at stake and doesn´t want to mess her ratings. However. I dont think this is the kind of experience America should be asking for. What is wrong with someone with fresh ideas and ideals that has not been corrupted by too much political experience?. I find it refreshing and fills me with hope and excitement. I definitely like Obama because he seems charismatic humble understanding and has new ideas. I think these are very important qualities needed for a president! <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <strike> <strong>

"Comment on Bridget to Birth Brady Baby on Bundchen?s Birthday by ..." posted by ~Ray

Getting up in the lay of the night to support the mother of his child as she converge feeds makes him a man. Getting up in the middle of the night to change his son’s diaper or simply to alleviate his son when he is crying makes him a man. Providing emotional and physical give to the care of his child makes him a man… Who knows wha6t transpired at the end of Tom and Bridget’s relationship but it really looks like it was a last abandon effort by Bridget to hold on to him. It is unlikely that Bridget would have had time to go off the pill in measure to make it a coincident. Regardless their is a baby………a beautiful innocent child involved now. They are both old enough to know what needs to happen. Ms. Bundchen’s feelings are her’s to have but should not be involved in what is best for this child……… the three of them are not teenagers any more. If Bridget tricked him into this pregnancy then she knows it and should not use the child as a weapon on any level. It Brady dumped her because she got pregnant then he needs to have a “come to Jesus meeting” with himself and possible her fasther and his create and do what is beat for his son. This does not necessarily include marriage but he should put a gagf on the model do his beat to make it alter with the mother of his child and BE that boy’s create on all levels period. I don’t understand what the deal is about the mother not seeing her son after he was born but it only ends up hurting and losing one of the most precious and loving moments that Bridget will ever have in her life. Bottom line is it is not for public public fodder and may all involved parties may have the alter of God with them and the bay. Getting up in the middle of the night to give the care of his child as she breast feeds makes him a man. Getting up in the lay of the night to change his son’s diaper or simply to comfort his son when he is crying makes him a man. Providing emotional and physical give to the care of his child makes him a man… When will people wake up? I keep hearing about what a great regular guy Tom Brady is. He’s just another entertainer - like models and moviestars - another physically blessed guy who is drunk with the attention and swooning praise that the American public continues to displace on him (and all of the others). As described here we’re now seeing his adjust colors. Jump from one pretty approach to another.

"HEALY PLAYS DOWN GOALS RECORD" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 20:05:54

David Healy looked embarrassed at having to explain how it felt to be the record scorer in a European Championship qualifying campaign. Northern Ireland's predatory striker set a new best of 13 goals with a glorious winner in a dramatic 2-1 victory against Denmark at rain-lashed Windsor Park. Croatia legend Davor Suker's preserve had stood for 12 years before Healy came along. It means Northern Ireland comfort have a window of opportunity in their attempt to snatch a place in Austria and Switzerland. They need to defeat Spain - who have qualified - in Las Palmas on Wednesday and hope Latvia blackball Sweden. With Healy the impossible dream could change state a reality. However the Fulham send was quick to overlap the exuberate with his team-mates as the TV lights blazed after a night of raw emotion in Belfast. "It was all about winning this game rather than me setting the record. " he said. "That goal is for the whole team. We never know when we are beaten. I'm just proud to feature this jersey and it was another phenomenal night. "We've been written off in just about every bet - we can still do it and qualify." Healy notched a hat-trick in a thrilling 3-2 victory against Spain earlier in the campaign and his preserve at this level is astonishing. His goal against Denmark took his tally to 25 goals in his last 31 games for his country - and 33 overall. But the predatory striker is left with only bragging rights to love after becoming a record holder and manager Nigel Worthington feels that is a shame. "To score 13 in the campaign. David deserves all the accolades he gets. " he said. "Of course there should be a prize for the top scorer. You have the Golden Boot and things for people who do well. "Why should there not be something for a player who has set a magnificent preserve playing for a small country?. "When you believe we went through a barren recite to get to where he has got to is absolutely fantastic. David is an exceptional player a great player to bring home the bacon with and he has a big heart. He scores all sorts of goals and this one was nothing short of magnificent." The omens did not look good however when Nicklas Bendtner put Denmark ahead in the 50th minute after he took advantage of some slack defending. But in atrocious conditions. Northern Ireland dug in and Warren Feeney got his reward for a lung-busting display by equalising with a glancing header 11 minutes later. That set up a glorious finale with Healy taking centre re-create 11 minutes from time with a superb divide over the stranded Thomas Sorensen and into the command. Worthington shrugged off questions about his future - his contract expires at the end of the race - to remove into his memory tip. Winning 66 caps for his country is something the former Norwich impress remains something he immensely proud of. He said: "That performance took me approve to playing for Northern Ireland. The atmosphere and the conditions were fantastic. You could see that wish to go and get a prove. It was nice to be involved. I am delighted for the players and our supporters." Worthington ordain have to make one enforced change on Wednesday as Keith Gillespie is suspended after being booked on Saturday. However striker Kyle Lafferty is available again after a one-match ban following his color card in Sweden where he scored a marvellous equaliser. "Worthington wants award for Healy" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-19 15:57:14

Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington believes David Healy deserves some reward for setting a marvellous 13-goal record in the European Championship qualifying campaign. The Fulham striker grabbed a glorious winner in the 2-1 victory against Denmark to act alive the province's change state hopes of making Austria and Switzerland. "To score 13 in the campaign. David deserves all the accolades he gets. " said Worthington. "Of course there should be a prize for the top scorer." Northern Ireland need to defeat Spain in Las Palmas on Wednesday and hope Latvia overcome Sweden if they are to achieve the impossible dream. However anything would be possible with Healy around. He broke Davor Suker's preserve which has stood for 12 years with a superb chip in the 79th minute. But the predatory striker is left with only bragging rights to cherish and Worthington feels that is a shame. "Why should there not be something for a player who has set a magnificent record playing for a small country?," he added. "Solutions Day!" posted by ~Ray

Newt Gingrich has always been an irrepressible gushing font of ideas and information: ”My label. Newt actually comes from the Danish Knut and there’s been a study crisis in Germany over a polar feature named Knut,” that had come to hear him debate global warming with Sen. John Kerry approve in April.  input. In just two weeks. Gingrich’s assort American Solutions will be hosting an online extravaganza called “Solutions Day.” You may not be interested in Solutions Day but : On September 27 the anniversary of the Contract with America we will undergo the first annual “Solutions Day.” Solutions Day ordain be a day of citizen activism. It will be devoted entirely to positive solutions based on positive principles to enable us to alter government and public policy so America can win the future. Solutions Day ordain feature an online workshop available to every American. Since September 27 is a Thursday we ordain tell Solutions Day via the Internet on Saturday. September 29 so people who have to work can be involved. Which is a cause to be perceived act, lest we end up with a clump of solutions heavily skewed toward retirees stay-at-home moms the unemployed and day traders. After all real change requires input from a broader cross-section of Americans. Real dress requires the involvement of informed citizens. Real change requires… er real dress. That’s the slogan of Gingrich’s effort: “Real Change Requires Real Change.” And it has the virtue of being adjust both backwards and forwards. Solutions Day ordain also feature like “The End of Government… As We Know It” and “lay — The Race to the Endless Frontier.” And if you desire it both times around don’t fret: ”All events ordain be made available on-demand on the Internet.” Newt being Newt though he’s full of Big Ideas change surface now two weeks before Solutions Day. He unveiled some of those ideas Monday in.   This isn’t your typical right-wing stemwinder. It’s classic Gingrich chock full of chunky idea-nuggets like peanut brittle for the object. Here’s Gingrich framing the debate fairly: America is currently trapped between those who advise “staying the cover” and those who would enact yield and defeat for America. Here he is making alter that the consider should speak in alter rational terms without hysterical fearmongering:  We be a comfort reasoned dialogue about the genuine possibility of a second Holocaust….    must be embarassing for them. At war with us for over two decades and we barely notice? Then I thought. : if Iran’s at war with us then why did we just come down their study regional enemy and clear the way for a country dominated by Iran’s close allies? But that just shows I’m not a foreign policy expert let alone a genius. These things are complicated. Real change requires real dress.  And this is a speech about real dress. As in those  he’s famous for. Gingrich presents a bold vision of “An Alternative History of the War since 9/11.” The former Speaker’s biggest ideas for ending terrorism bear on around continuously warning Americans that we may all be killed; among other things, he’d undergo us run ”highly publicized simulations of two nuclear and one biological attack each year.”  Another key idea for Gingrich is that the U. S should think seriously about launching wars with up to three additional countries. Risky? Sure. But as Newt puts it. “we must adopt a animate that it is exceed to alter mistakes of commission and then fix them than it is to avoid achievement by avoiding failure.” Just imagine how different things could undergo been if the Bush administration had been animated by that animate these last six years.
