The LEAD Program is intended to encourage and adjudge active student participation and contributory involvement in university life beyond the classroom. New full-time students admitted to William Woods University are eligible to take advantage of the LEAD Program which offers an allocate of $5,000 for residential students and $2,500 for commuter students per year. Students who accept the LEAD award decide to become a move of the LEAD Program and commit themselves to participating over the course of the academic year in activities designated as LEAD-eligible activities. These activities may include lectures films concerts intercollegiate athletic events plays art exhibits student organizations and other events. The initial LEAD award is granted to a student after formal acceptance to the University the student's acceptance of a financial aid package and the student's commitment to participate in LEAD activities during the year. Eligibility for continuation of the LEAD allocate in subsequent semesters of enrollment is contingent upon satisfying the prior semester's commitment. In other words for a LEAD student to be eligible for the financial benefit associated with the LEAD Program for an upcoming semester the student will have had to participate in a pre-determined number and type of LEAD activities during the previous semester. So in the least we are free to choose which clothes to purchase or if we make our own.. we are free to purchase the food we wish or to change it ourselves for ourselves.. we are remove to live where we please at a determine that is negotiated between the owner and the renter/buyer. The key difference is choice. So when the federal government requires upwards of 40%-50% in taxes there are government regulations on what I need to do to work in a profession and the government officials are now talking about forcing me to participate in a socialized health care system.. well. I begin to question how remove I actually am. Are we a people who decide to live in a society of freedom and choice or are we electing representative who further strip away our right to personal choice?We are officially less than one year away from electing our next president. Keep these questions in mind as we move forward to select our representatives. Who is going to ensure freedoms and bring home the bacon to get approve the freedoms that have been lost? Who is going to contend to make government less of a spectator sport and more of a full contact profession as it relates to our personal lives? Ask yourself.. how remove do I want to be? The government requires fifty to sixty percent of your taxes because they use it to create weapons and because they give away billions in federal money to large corporations. Taxpayers must.
